Budapest Thermal Baths and Pools: Prices Compared

The postcard bath in the City Park next to the zoo, open every day of the year, with the big outdoor thermal pools and the indoor halls running to the same hours as the bath itself.

Good to know: Open daily 07:00 to 20:00, to 22:00 on Fridays and from 08:00 at weekends, with the pool halls closing 20 minutes before the bath and the till an hour before; the site names its 2026 peak days as 29 to 31 May, 25 to 26 July, 20 to 23 August, 23 to 25 October and 18 December to 6 January, when the higher price applies, opening is from 08:00 and the resident evening discount is not sold.

An Ottoman Turkish bath with a panorama pool looking over the Danube and the city, and the only one of the city operator's baths that sells night bathing, from 22:00 to 03:00 on Friday and Saturday.

Good to know: Under 14s are not admitted at all, and the Turkish bath is single sex on most weekday mornings (men Mon, Thu, Fri to 10:45 and all day Wed 06:00 to 20:00; women all day Tue 06:00 to 20:00) with mixed hours from 11:00 and 06:00 at weekends, while the wellness area and sauna world stay mixed; the Zsigmondy card and the resident evening ticket are not valid for night bathing, and between 20 and 23 August 2026 the bath runs weekend hours and weekend prices.

The locals' thermal bath at the Buda end of Margaret Bridge, at roughly half the Szechenyi price, with thermal and swimming pools, a sauna world and a full medical department.

Good to know: Open 07:00 to 19:00 daily and to 22:00 on Tuesdays; the sauna world is not included in the day ticket and costs HUF 1,300 extra, running from 14:00 on weekdays and all day at weekends, and a Zsigmondy club card is only valid here on Fridays and at weekends, at HUF 6,500, and never for the sauna world.

A small Ottoman bath run by the Hospitaller Order, which calls it the largest and most beautiful Turkish bath in Budapest, sold as a three hour ticket with no online booking.

Good to know: The site announces temporary closure for maintenance from 13 to 31 August 2026, and states that the bath is otherwise closed on public and church holidays with some exceptions; tickets are sold at the desk only with no online booking or reservation, one ticket buys three hours with HUF 40 per minute after that, SZEP cards are refused in capitals on the price page, under 14s are refused entry even with a parent, and morning slots run 06:00 to 12:00 from Wednesday to Sunday with afternoons 15:00 to 21:00 daily.

A small neighbourhood thermal bath in Ferencvaros, adults only and about a quarter of the Szechenyi price, with thermal pools, outdoor pools and a sauna world.

Good to know: Under 14s are not admitted; open 09:00 to 19:00 and to 22:00 on Thursdays, when the water features stop at 19:00. Do not build a visit around the sauna: the bath announced that rebuilding of the mini sauna world's ventilation started on 13 July 2026 and that the mini sauna world stays closed for the several weeks of the work, with the outdoor section available on a discounted supplementary ticket at HUF 500 instead, so the complex ticket is not worth its premium until it reopens.

The classic Margaret Island summer strand, with a wave pool, big lawns and thermal pools, and the family ticket that makes a day out affordable.

Good to know: The listed prices are the summer schedule the bath dates from 13 June 2026, standard opening hours are 09:00 to 19:00 and AYCM sports pass holders enter free on weekdays; heat alerts push the closing time out rather than in, and the bath stayed open to 20:00 from 30 July to 4 August 2026 under a level three alert. Its contact page gives the address as Soo Rezso setany 1 and adds that the bath cannot currently be reached by telephone, so use the site or the till.

The best value serious swim in Budapest: two outdoor thermal pools plus 50 metre and 25 metre outdoor lanes at 27 degrees that run all year, for HUF 3,400 on a weekday.

Good to know: Run by the National Sports Agency next to the Duna Arena, open 06:00 to 20:00 daily and to 21:00 while a heat alert is in force; lane availability can be cut by competitions at the arena, the leisure Pillango pools are seasonal, a swimming cap is compulsory in the lane pools, the wellness section is 14 and over only, and under 14s may use the thermal and medicinal pools only on a doctor's prescription.

A rebuilt Obuda complex that works as a real sports pool and a family day out, with a 25 by 33 metre pool, a 55 metre outdoor pool and a warm panorama pool.

Good to know: The sport zone runs 06:00 to 20:00 and the strand, wellness, children's world and sauna world 08:00 to 20:00, with the sport zone, wellness and sauna world open to 22:00 on Wednesdays; the sauna world is 14 and over only, entry with an AYCM pass is free on weekdays, and on-the-spot ticket sales are same-day only, so buy online if you want to plan ahead.

Zuglo's own thermal bath, a 38 degree indoor thermal pool plus a summer strand, with almost no tourists and free entry for AYCM pass holders on weekdays.

Good to know: Open 09:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, from 08:00 at weekends and until 22:00 on Sundays; under 14s may only use the thermal pool on a doctor's prescription, and the timed 2 hour ticket carries a refundable deposit.

South Pest's iodine and salt water bath with free parking for bathers, a sauna world and a summer strand area with a wave pool and playground.

Good to know: Open 08:00 to 20:00 and to 22:00 on Saturdays; the bath states that the iodine-salt pool is currently filled with Szent Erzsebet medicinal water because of a prolonged fault in the well, that energy costs have cut the outdoor Finnish sauna to 12:00 to 19:40 on weekdays and 08:00 to 19:40 at weekends, that the strand area (wave pool, outdoor children's pool, playground, fitness park) closes in winter, and that the indoor children's pool runs only at weekends, holidays and from 1 June to 31 August. The sauna world is a separate charge, from HUF 900 as a supplement to HUF 3,700 for a five hour ticket.

The cheapest proper swim in central Budapest at HUF 2,200, in the 1930 Margaret Island complex designed by Alfred Hajos, Hungary's first Olympic champion, and still the home of Hungarian water sports.

Good to know: General hours are 06:00 to 15:55 on weekdays and 06:00 to 18:00 at weekends, but public lane availability depends on training and events, so check the weekly public water surface schedule; discounted youth tickets need a valid student card and the under 25 rule, and passes bought in a given year expire on 31 December.

A leafy strand out at Romaifurdo, reachable by HEV or bus 34 and 106, with free grass parking next to the bath and family tickets under HUF 12,000.

The cheapest bath ticket in the city at HUF 3,100 on a weekday, a plain north Buda strand where a family of four gets in for under HUF 9,000.

The city's big indoor water park in Ujpest, the obvious rainy-Sunday answer for families, with slides, indoor pools, an outdoor beach area, a sauna world and a hotel attached.

Good to know: Open 07:00 to 21:00 daily with the pool area closing 30 minutes earlier, ticket prices apply from 20 July 2026 and include the Sauna World, but online tickets cannot be bought on the day of your visit and on-the-spot tickets are valid for immediate entry only; the slide and sauna timetable changes from 1 September, 3 hour tickets allow 15 minutes to change and then cost HUF 50 per minute over time, the Sauna World is 14 and over, and a locker is HUF 200 on top of the ticket.
