Physiotherapy and Massage in Budapest: English-Speaking Clinics Compared

Good to know: The published price list is marked valid from 1 September 2022, so confirm current fees when booking; bank cards and SZÉP card are accepted and the price page shows a panel of Hungarian health fund (egészségpénztár) logos under the heading "private medical insurers", so ask which card works before you book; open on Saturdays.

Self-described international clinic whose osteopath trained abroad (D.O. plus a master's in paediatric osteopathy, and a former lecturer at the International Academy of Osteopathy in Vienna); the site lists English, French, German, Hungarian and Spanish across its three therapists, with a strong women's health focus.

Good to know: The contact section publishes an email ([email protected]) rather than a phone number, so book through the website's booking system (interface in German, session in the language your therapist speaks); entrance at doorbell 28, take the right-hand staircase to the first floor. Physiotherapy here is the higher-priced end of the market: HUF 30,000 for a first 60 minute session.

Spine-focused McKenzie practice led by Relle Éva, head of the Hungarian McKenzie Institute since 1993, with clinics on both sides of the river and a therapist page that states which of its 18 physiotherapists speak English.

Good to know: Trades online as Gyógytorna Magánrendelő and is signed as the Belvárosi and Bel-budai rendelő; second clinic at 1111 Budapest, Bartók Béla út 34. near Móricz Zsigmond körtér; appointment-only on weekdays 8:00 to 20:00 with booking calls taken between 9:00 and 17:00, prices in force from 1 January 2026, and the price page states plainly that state health insurance does not cover these sessions.

Physio arm of the private center behind the National Center for Spinal Disorders; the site states most physiotherapists and massage therapists speak English, German or Spanish.

Good to know: Every course starts with a physiotherapy assessment, on which the treatment plan is based; book by phone or online on weekdays 8:00 to 20:00, and the site states that OTP National Health Fund (egészségpénztár) members use its services at a discount. Sport rehabilitation is a named line on the price list at the same fee as standard physiotherapy, and 5-session blocks cost HUF 54,000 (25 min) or HUF 85,500 (50 min).

One of Hungary's largest private providers (renamed from Medicover in April 2025), with physiotherapy and therapeutic massage listed among the services of its Váci út hospital and diagnostics campus, open weekdays 07:00 to 20:00.

Good to know: The old medicover.hu address now redirects to medicare-group.hu. Sessions run 30 minutes, the first one is mostly assessment, and twice a week is the recommended frequency; the diagnostic examination is made by an orthopaedist, rheumatologist or neurologist first, and patients with pregnancy, cancer or cardiovascular conditions are asked to bring a specialist recommendation. Beware which price list you read: the live table gives HUF 12,000 and HUF 15,000, while an older table left hidden on the same page still shows HUF 8,000. Medicare also has Alkotás, Arena Corner and Eiffel clinics in Budapest. The rating comes from a Birdeye profile of Google reviews still filed under the old Medicover name.

Large south-Buda polyclinic with a bilingual site and some of the lowest published physio session prices among the private clinics listed here.

Good to know: Open Mon-Fri 7:00 to 20:00 and Sat-Sun 9:00 to 20:00; a medical administration and assistant fee (HUF 950) is added to specialist visits, though not to the gyógytorna rows. The physio prices above are the gyógytorna section of the price list; the separate "Physiotherapy" section on the same page means fizikoterápia (electrotherapy, laser, shockwave) at HUF 9,000 upwards. The English price list also lags the Hungarian one on medical massage (HUF 18,000 versus HUF 20,000 for 55 minutes), so confirm at booking. No Google rating is shown here: the only figure available came from a Trustindex profile that mixes sources and whose displayed and structured counts disagree.

Budget-friendly 30 minute physio sessions in the locomotor rehabilitation workshop of a long-running Buda private clinic with a full English site.

Good to know: Physiotherapy here follows a medical diagnosis: the clinic states it provides personalised movement therapy with a graduate physiotherapist on the basis of one, so plan on a specialist consultation if you do not already have a diagnosis. The HUF 6,000 price comes from the service page, not from the clinic's own price list, which carries no physiotherapy rows and is marked informative only, so confirm the fee; bookable online through the clinic's shop portal, and the clinic also trades as Swiss Prémium Egészségközpont at several Budapest addresses.

Good to know: Students and under-25s pay reduced rates (first visit HUF 25,000, follow-up HUF 20,000); the published price list is effective from June 2025.

Long-established Buda practice run by Zsolt Kálbori, D.C., which pairs chiropractic adjustments with in-house therapeutic massage and rehabilitation training and runs a full English site.

Good to know: Prices are in force from 1 January 2026 and a phone or online consultation of up to 20 minutes costs HUF 9,500 if you are unsure whether you need care; the first visit is HUF 52,500 for children aged 0 to 4. Strict 24 hour cancellation policy (full fee otherwise) and an annual summer closure 3 to 23 August. Cash, cards except AMEX, SZÉP card and named Hungarian health fund and insurer cards (Tempo, Dimenzió, Generali, Prémium, Patika, Új Pillér, OTP, MKB, Vasutas, Allianz, K and H) are accepted. The rehabilitation sessions are given by a rehab trainer, not a physiotherapist. No Google rating is shown here: the only figure found came from a Trustindex profile mixing Google, Facebook and Trustindex reviews.

Good to know: No prices are published anywhere on the site, so ask for fees when booking, though the site does offer a complimentary first consultation. Its two practitioners describe themselves as kiropraktőr plus massage therapist (Thai and gyógy-masszőr), not as physiotherapists. Consulting hours are weekdays only, Mon and Wed 14:30 to 19:00 and Tue, Thu 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:30 to 18:00, Fri 10:00 to 13:00, closed at weekends, with short summer breaks announced on the site. Fourth floor, flat 1/a.

Dedicated massage studio just off Váci út in District XIII whose sports massage page describes work on the deeper muscle layers, with a full English site and online booking.

Good to know: A massage studio rather than a medical clinic: no physiotherapy assessment, no rehabilitation programme, and its own page rules sports massage out during pregnancy, menstruation, thrombosis, vascular disease or cancer. Open daily 9:00 to 21:00 (Mon from 13:00); prices are per person and roughly double for two people in the room; gift vouchers are valid 12 months from purchase and a Frequenter discount of 5 to 20 percent applies once you log in. Payment by card online, or cash, card and SZÉP card (OTP, MKB, K and H) in the salon.
