Good to know: There is a second, quieter Varosliget dog park of about half a hectare near Ajtosi Durer sor and Stefania ut, split into separate small dog and large dog areas; the Hermina park is busy, with the operator reporting 750 to 800 dogs a day and up to 1,000 visitors on peak weekends, so a first visit off peak is wise for a nervous dog.

Dog walking is only possible on the Saturday open days, roughly 10:30 to 13:00, and photo ID is required. Cat adoption runs on its own line and its own hours (Monday and Friday 10:00 to 14:00, Wednesday 10:00 to 13:00, Saturday 10:00 to 14:00); the shelter asks that adoption questions go by phone, not email. The English and German versions of the site are real, but the phone lines are answered by rotating volunteers and the shelter says it has no internet connection on site, so do not count on being answered in English.

Good to know: The Illatos ut site is the municipal pound, not a shelter: the foundation explains that a stray is held 15 days for its original owner, after which anyone may adopt, while owner-surrendered dogs can go straight away. Phone lines run Monday to Thursday 10:00 to 17:00 and Friday 10:00 to 14:00, and the foundation asks for calls from numbers that are not withheld.

A dedicated cattery rather than a dog kennel with a cat corner, with a Buda site in the II. district and a Pest site in the VII., plus a cat sitting option if your cat travels badly.

Good to know: The second site is at 1078 Budapest, Nefelejcs utca 56. Rates are quoted as a daily fee and the site renders them as animated counters, so they can read oddly on a slow connection; the page title still advertises an older starting figure of HUF 4,300, and the current published rates are the ones listed here. A booking needs a 50 percent deposit that is not refunded, though it can be used within 365 days if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead. One day's fee covers you until noon the next day, checkout between 12:00 and 15:00 adds half a day and after 15:00 a full day. Open Monday to Friday 9:00 to 19:00 and weekends and holidays 9:00 to 12:00, visits by appointment, and first-time guests must send photos of the vaccination book or pet passport.

A small boarding house in Pestszentlorinc a few minutes from Liszt Ferenc airport, handy if you fly out early and want to drop the animal on the way; the branding and almost all the detail on the site are about cats, with dogs mentioned but not described.

Good to know: The published HUF 6,000 a day is the cat rate. Dog boarding is advertised but quote-based, with no price, photos or house rules on the site, so ask what a dog stay actually includes. Longer stays get a discount on request. Cats are housed individually to avoid injuries, outdoor cats must have a valid rabies vaccination, a flea treatment is compulsory and male cats must be neutered. Book and view the place by phone before arriving, and do not feed the cat in the few hours before drop-off.

All fees are paid in advance in one sum, and services run every day of the year including holidays.

A straightforward suburban salon in Rakospalota that prices purely by weight band rather than by breed, which makes it the easiest place on this page to estimate a bill in advance; its own site carries a Google badge showing 4.9 from 71 reviews.

Good to know: The price list runs from 1 October 2025 and every figure is a from-price that moves with coat condition and behaviour; a flea-ridden, neglected or unmanageable coat carries a surcharge from HUF 4,000, and there is no half hour unit here. The salon is closed Sunday and Monday, and open Tuesday to Friday 9:00 to 19:00 and Saturday 9:00 to 13:00, by appointment only. Booking is by phone during those hours because messages are not read during the working day. Cancelling inside 24 hours costs half the fee and a no-show the full fee. Free parking outside.

Start the paperwork early, since non-EU destinations need vaccination and permit lead time.

The platform advertises ID verification and insurance cover, but the contract is with the sitter, so agree keys, feeding and vet permissions in writing before you fly.
