Veterinary care in Hungary is fully private: published weekday consultation fees in Budapest run HUF 12,000 to 35,300, rising to HUF 36,000 for a weekend walk-in and from HUF 58,000 during night duty at the 24/7 hospital; rabies shots run HUF 11,000 to 17,000 and chip plus registration HUF 11,000 to 20,000. Every price below comes from the provider's own published list, with its effective date noted, as fetched in August 2026.

Budapesti Allatkorhaz (Budapest Animal Hospital)
Private24/7 animal hospital, dogs and catsXIII. District (Pest)
The capital's classic round-the-clock animal hospital: full day clinic plus a staffed night emergency service, with a real English page.
Open 24/7 for dogs and catsNight emergency 20:00-08:00SurgeryCardiology and ultrasoundDentistryOphthalmologyMicrochipVaccinations
| Examination, booked, weekday | HUF 23,000 |
| Examination without appointment, weekday | HUF 30,000 |
| Examination, weekend or public holiday | HUF 36,000 |
| Rabies vaccination (plus HUF 3,000 injection fee) | HUF 13,000 |
| Microchip with registration, weekday | HUF 20,000 |
Good to know: Two limits the hospital states itself. It provides no service at all for rabbits, rodents and other exotic animals, and during the night shift (20:00 to 08:00) reception and the phone lines are closed, so you go there rather than call. The night surcharge is HUF 22,000 on top of the examination fee and the hospital puts a general night examination at HUF 58,000 or more; night, weekend and holiday labour also carries a 50 percent uplift. Prices quoted are the published list effective from 17 August 2024. Microchipping and pet passports are done in consulting hours only; the new-type pet passport is HUF 25,000 on a weekday.

Dr. Juhasz Tamas Kisallatkorhaz
Private0-24 small animal hospitalXI. District (Buda)
Buda's 0-24 animal hospital: the clinic states that a vet and an assistant are physically in the building at all times, ready for immediate life-saving surgery.
Open 0-24Night duty 20:00-08:00SurgeryInternal medicine and obstetricsCardiology and ultrasoundDentistryInpatient careMicrochip and pet passport
| Night and holiday duty fee (examination and treatment extra) | HUF 37,000 |
Good to know: The clinic states that during duty hours it cannot take phone calls: ring the bell at the gate and wait for the assistant. It also says duty-hour work is limited to life-saving intervention and stabilising the patient, with the detailed workup done the next day in normal consulting hours. The HUF 37,000 duty fee is a surcharge and does not include the examination, treatments, any surgery, materials or medicines. Website and signage are Hungarian only, so bring a Hungarian speaker if you can.

Small Animal Clinic, University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest
PublicUniversity teaching clinicVII. District (Pest)
The country's reference clinic at the vet university: specialist departments, hospital and intensive care, and the place other Budapest vets refer difficult cases.
Reception Mon-Fri 8-19Internal medicineSurgeryOphthalmologyObstetricsIntensive careDiagnostic imagingDialysis
| Ambulatory examination, weekday 08:00-16:00 | HUF 30,300 to 35,300 |
| Ambulatory examination, weekend 08:00-20:00 | HUF 35,700 to 44,300 |
| Rabies vaccination | HUF 15,500 |
| Microchip, registration and health check | HUF 17,500 |
| Pet passport | HUF 27,700 |
Good to know: Night cover is the detail to get right. The Hungarian page states that since 1 March 2024 the clinic takes no new patients between 20:00 and 08:00, but that patients admitted during the day and needing hospital or intensive care are treated continuously through the night; the English page says more bluntly that the clinic is closed at night. Treat it as open for inpatients, closed for new arrivals, and use a 24/7 hospital for a night emergency. The internal medicine department's own 2026 fee sheet also advertises duty-type care on weekdays 16:00 to 19:00 and at weekends and holidays 12:00 to 19:00, which the clinic landing page does not show, so call the department before a weekend visit. Prices listed are the internal medicine department's 2026 schedule and exclude medicines, laboratory work and consumables; a hospital admission fee of HUF 37,100 to 42,600 and a deposit of HUF 100,000 to 200,000 apply if your pet is admitted.

ProVet Allatorvosi Szakrendelo
PrivateSpecialist vet practiceII. District (Buda)
Pasaret practice founded in 1992 by vets who came from the university's surgery and ophthalmology department; it calls its eye clinic the longest-running in the country and lists several embassies among its regular clients.
Mon-Fri 9-19Sat 9-12Sun 18-20OphthalmologyOrthopaedics and neurologyGeriatric screeningLab, X-ray and ultrasound
| Detailed physical clinical examination | HUF 17,000 |
| Geriatric health screen (dog) | HUF 83,000 |
| Geriatric health screen (cat) | HUF 96,500 |
| Deposit on any booked procedure needing anaesthesia | HUF 30,000 |
Good to know: Hours include a short Sunday evening slot, 18:00 to 20:00, that is easy to miss. Since 22 June 2026 every booked procedure requiring anaesthesia or sedation needs a HUF 30,000 deposit, refunded in full if you cancel at least 48 hours ahead, forfeited if you cancel later or do not show, and credited against the bill if the procedure goes ahead. Free street parking up Csevi utca. One caution: the clinic's own contact page still sends after-hours emergencies to the vet university's 24-hour service, which has not taken new patients between 20:00 and 08:00 since March 2024, so go to a 24/7 hospital instead. The English switch exists but most articles show 'There are no translations available'.

Primavet Kisallat-Rendelointezet
PrivatePrivate small animal polyclinicXV. District (Pest)
Referral-grade polyclinic operating on the same site since September 1990, with MRI (2012, replaced 2016), CT (2015), digital X-ray, endoscopy, hospital wards and a separate isolation ward, and eleven vets covering specialist fields.
Weekdays 8-20, duty to 22Weekend duty from 9MRI and CTSurgery and orthopaedicsNeurologyDermatologyExotic petsInpatient and isolation wards
Good to know: Not a 24-hour hospital: the clinic is open on weekdays 08:00 to 20:00 with duty cover from 20:00 to 22:00, and its own pages disagree about the weekend, the homepage giving Saturday 09:00 to 22:00 and Sunday 09:00 to 20:00 while the company history says eleven hours on both days, so call before you set off. The clinic also explains that weekend duty is partly on-call: the vet on site decides whether emergency surgery is needed and then calls in the orthopaedic surgeon and anaesthesia assistant, with a duty surcharge. Appointments are required for imaging and neurology. Pricing is quote-based, no published list. A vet pharmacy and pet shop sit next door. The English version of the site is partial; the German-language material belongs to a separate Austrian site, so do not assume German at reception.

Good to know: Prices are stated as valid from 1 February 2026 and exclude the cost of medicines; a mini microchip is HUF 14,000 rather than HUF 12,000. The clinic runs on appointments booked by phone; urgent cases are seen without one, but if the situation is not life-threatening booked patients get priority. Daytime hours only, no night or Sunday cover.

Exo-Pet Allatgyogyaszati Centrum
PrivateExotic pet and cat specialistVII. District (Pest)
Hungary's first clinic dedicated to exotic pets and cats: birds, reptiles, rabbits, rodents, ferrets and hedgehogs, three species-separated inpatient wards, and the first Silver Rabbit Friendly Vet practice in the country under the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund.

| Microchip with registration | HUF 14,500 |
| Pet passport | HUF 19,000 |
Good to know: Closed on Sundays and after 19:00, so it is not a night option: emergencies are taken inside opening hours only and carry a surcharge, HUF 8,000 up to 17:00, HUF 12,000 after 18:00, HUF 12,000 at weekends, and HUF 30,000 for emergency surgery. Call ahead and check in at reception; the clinic says patients are not seen in order of arrival. Prices are valid from 8 February 2026, are indicative and exclude medicines. Cancelling within 48 hours of the appointment costs HUF 5,000. An English version of the whole site is available at exopet.hu/?lang=en and the online booking system runs around the clock. Fuziovet Allatkorhaz
PrivateReferral animal hospital with 24-hour inpatient careXI. District (Buda)
Central hospital of the Fuziovet group, opened on 2 March 2020 by the Felicavet and Hungarovet practices; a 15-place dog ward and a fully separate 8-place cat ward that the hospital says are under continuous supervision every hour of the year, with CT, MRI, endoscopy, neurosurgery and laparoscopic surgery.
Mon-Fri 8-22Weekends 9-1824-hour inpatient careCT and MRINeurosurgeryOrthopaedicsDermatology and otologyExotic pets
Good to know: This is the distinction to hold on to: 24-hour cover here means inpatients and intensive care, not a 24-hour front door. Outpatients are seen weekdays 08:00 to 22:00, with 20:00 to 22:00 counted as duty and a duty fee charged if you arrive after 19:45, and at weekends 09:00 to 18:00 with ambulatory admissions closing at 17:00. The hospital works on appointments. The site is Hungarian only and no price list is published, so ask for a quote. Note that Hungarovet's old clinic in the XXII. district closed on 1 October 2020 and its vets moved here.

Good to know: Rates above are the published English list valid from 1 September 2025, VAT included; the company does not charge by days started, gives 10 percent off stays over 14 days and 15 percent over 30, and quotes a fee calculator for anything unusual. Arrival and departure run 07:00 to 20:00, a check-out after 12:00 is billed at the day-care rate, and an evening check-out between 18:00 and 20:00 costs a one-off HUF 1,000. Boarding centres are Ujbuda (1116 Mesterhazi u. 6-8.), Szentendre, Szigetszentmiklos and Debrecen; the Obuda, Rozsa u. 94/B, Filler u. and Sugar addresses are grooming and day-care salons, not boarding. Describes itself as the only exclusively animal air transport company in Hungary, handling flights, permits, crates and paperwork for international pet moves in and out of Budapest.
Pet air transportImport and export paperworkTravel cratesPet passport helpVet consultation
Good to know: Quote-based service with no published price list and no street address on the site; client testimonials on the company's own page cover routes to the UAE, the UK, Ireland and Australia. Start the paperwork early, since non-EU moves need vaccination, titre-test and permit lead time.
Ratings, prices and details were last checked in August 2026 from each provider's public pages, Google Maps and Trustpilot; they change, so always confirm directly with the provider before booking or paying.
