Pharmacies in Budapest: 24 Hour Options, Chains and Prices

The most useful pharmacy in central Pest for foreigners: night cover every night, a duty window five minutes from Nyugati station, and one of the very few Budapest pharmacies with a full English website.

Good to know: Night service runs 20:00 to 08:00 through the duty window on Szondi utca, and the pharmacy's English page says to ring the bell. Its own site advertises counter service 08:00 to 20:00 every day including holidays, but the authority's register lists its licensed hours as Monday to Friday 08:00 to 20:00, Saturday 08:00 to 14:00 and Sunday closed, with the official duty roster showing it covering 0-24 on Sundays and holidays and 00:00 to 08:00 plus 14:00 to 24:00 on Saturdays. At weekends and on holidays, plan on using the Szondi utca window rather than the front door, or phone first. Registered in the official list as Terez Gyogyszertar. Five minutes on foot from Nyugati station or Oktogon, and it also stocks orthopaedic and mobility aids.

Hungary's biggest network, over 500 pharmacies backed by the German PHOENIX group, so there is almost always a BENU within walking distance wherever you land.

Good to know: Only non-prescription items can be ordered online, and medicines cannot be posted: the courier and parcel-locker options (MPL, MPL Postapont and FOXPOST) carry non-medicine goods such as vitamins and cosmetics only, while over-the-counter medicines have to be collected free at one of more than 200 BENU branches or brought to your door in Budapest by a pharmacist or assistant on the BENU Futar service, free from HUF 19,999 with card payment. The flagship branch listed here is BENU Gyogyszertar Budapest Madach ter at Karoly korut 13-15, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 20:00, Saturday 08:00 to 14:00, closed Sunday, which matches the authority's register. The site and shop staff work mainly in Hungarian.

A minute from Deak Ferenc ter in the heart of the tourist and office district, and open far later than the average Budapest pharmacy.

Good to know: The authority's register and the Gyongy Patikak network page agree on the hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 to 22:00, Saturday and Sunday 09:00 to 21:00, which covers most evening problems without a night duty fee. The register also lists reduced holiday hours and closure on 23 October. The two sources give different phone numbers, +36 1 318 2986 in the official register and +36 1 266 2918 on the network page, so try the official one first. Part of the Gyongy Patikak network, which says it has more than 550 pharmacies nationwide, so its loyalty card works countrywide. Card acceptance is not stated on its listing, so do not count on it.

Directly opposite Deli railway station and next to the Varosmajor heart clinic and the oncology centre, this 135 year old pharmacy runs a permanent duty service outside opening hours.

Good to know: The pharmacy's own site gives counter hours of 07:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to 20:00 at weekends, but the authority's register lists the licensed hours as Monday to Friday 07:00 to 20:00, Saturday 08:00 to 14:00 and Sunday closed. The official duty roster then shows the pharmacy covering 0-24 on Sundays and holidays and 00:00 to 08:00 plus 14:00 to 24:00 on Saturdays, so somebody is there either way; ring the same number before turning up at the weekend. It stocks harder-to-find speciality products and makes magistral (compounded) preparations to order. A second line, +36 1 355 4727, is listed on its contact page.

Round-the-clock pharmacy on the Bartok Bela ut tram corridor, the closest non-stop option to the Ujbuda and Gellert area where many expats live.

Good to know: The 0-24 claim holds up twice over: the pharmacy states it is always open with no duty fee (ugyeleti dij), and the authority's register lists its licensed hours as 00:00 to 24:00 on weekdays, weekends and public holidays alike. Entrance is at staircase E, ground floor. Magistral preparations ordered before 16:00 are made the same day. Free loyalty card on request.

Non-stop pharmacy in the new BudaPart quarter by Kopaszi gat, handy for the riverside apartment blocks and the Buda side of Rakoczi bridge.

Good to know: The pharmacy advertises continuous opening with no duty fee (ugyeleti dij nelkul), and the authority's register lists 00:00 to 24:00 on every day of the week. The register gives the precise unit as Napkelte utca 3, ground floor, door 2. Compounded preparations ordered by 16:00 are ready the same day. As with every non-stop pharmacy, call first if you are travelling across the city at night.

Open 0:00 to 24:00 every day of the year including holidays, confirmed in the authority's register, and unusual for a Budapest pharmacy in offering ordering through Foodpanda.

Good to know: The pharmacy states it charges no duty fee for night service. Part of the Alma network, whose card gives 5 percent off immediately except on prescription-only and TB-subsidised products; Mastercard, Visa and American Express are shown as accepted. Easier to reach than the address suggests: it sits at the Kelenfeld M4 metro terminus and railway station with a large P+R car park, and also has direct M1 and M7 motorway exits. A landline, +36 1 793 5590, is listed alongside the mobile number.

The one non-stop pharmacy in northern Buda, with licensed hours of 00:00 to 24:00 seven days a week in the authority's own register.

Good to know: This pharmacy has no website of its own, so the details here come from the Gyongy Patikak network page and from the NNGYK pharmacy register, which listed 00:00 to 24:00 for weekdays, weekends and public holidays on 2 August 2026. Out on Becsi ut in Obuda, so it suits Obuda, Csillaghegy and the Buda hills rather than downtown. Mastercard and Visa are shown as accepted on its listing. Phone before setting out at night, since there is no first-hand page to double-check against.

The northern Pest answer to a midnight fever, open every day of the year with no duty fee, and the pharmacy quotes 4.7 stars from more than 400 Google reviews.

Good to know: Both the pharmacy and the authority's register give 00:00 to 24:00 on every day of the week, holidays included, though several published lists of Budapest non-stop pharmacies leave this one out. Find it in the Metrodom Panorama residential complex, building B, ground floor unit 4. A member of the Kulcs Patika network. It can source non-stocked medicines within 12 hours, prepares compounded medicines quickly, sells veterinary preparations and even rents out baby scales. The number above is the one on its own site; the official register lists a mobile, +36 30 299 8627.

Open 0-24 every day of the year with no duty fee, confirmed in the authority's register, and one of the few Budapest pharmacies with its own free customer parking.

Good to know: Registered officially as Non-Stop 200 Gyogyszertar and operated by BRDK Pharma Zrt. Down at the Budafok end of Fehervari ut, reachable by trams 17, 41, 47, 48 and 56 or buses 114, 213 and 214 to Budafok Kocsiszin. Compounded creams and ointments ordered before 16:00 are made the same day.

The go-to answer when a medicine you relied on at home is not registered in Hungary or is temporarily out of stock: a Budapest business founded in 2001 that sources individually from Germany and Austria first, and from the wider EU, Switzerland and the US when needed.

Good to know: Read the setup before ordering. The operator is Centrosanum Kft., not a pharmacy: it does not appear in the NNGYK public pharmacy register, and its own site calls the premises a shop rather than a patika, so this is a specialist import service you order from after a one-off registration. Turnaround is quoted at two to three working days to their shop and the handling fee is a flat EUR 5 per order regardless of quantity, with the medicine and fee payable in forint at the day's rate. Prescription items need an original paper prescription signed by your doctor, handed over at collection. There is no in-house delivery: you either collect in person or arrange your own courier through GLS eCsomag, paying by bank transfer in advance and posting the original prescription first, and you must choose which route at the point of ordering. Open Monday to Friday 09:00 to 18:00, and the site is Hungarian only, so email [email protected] if you need to write in English.

A real Ferencvaros pharmacy behind an OGYEI-registered webshop, so you can order online and still walk in; the site's own copyright line runs from 2014.

Good to know: Operated by Pharmaplaza Kft. Kulcs Patika Mester at Mester utca 51, whose licensed counter hours in the authority's register are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 20:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 13:00, closed Sunday. Only original, non-prescription medicines, supplements and cosmetics can be bought online, as Hungarian law requires, and medicines cannot be posted. Parcel delivery is by GLS or Foxpost with SimplePay card payment. Customer service is Monday to Friday 08:00 to 13:00 on the number above, in Hungarian; the pharmacy counter line is +36 1 219 5819.

Good to know: Prescription medicines cannot be ordered here or anywhere else online in Hungary; the shop itself notes that since 1 January 2022, under the amended 2006. evi XCVIII. torveny, no medicine may be dispensed by parcel at all, so anything classed as a medicine has to be collected in a pharmacy or handed over by a pharmacist or assistant. Vitamins and cosmetics still travel by GLS, Foxpost or MPL. Budapest pickup points include Pozsonyi ut 19 (IV.), Komjadi Bela utca 3 (II.), Ferenc korut 12 (IX.), Bajcsy-Zsilinszky ut 66 (V.) and Vorosvari ut 135 (III.); the site writes the Ujpest one as Pozsonyi utca 19 with postcode 1045, while the authority's register gives 1043 Budapest, Pozsonyi ut 19.
